Central Camino Portugues: Walking from Tui to Santiago de Compostela (self-guided)

Arrival at the Galician town of Tui. This pretty border town looks back across the river to the Portuguese border town of Valenca. The International Bridge which is more affectionately known as The Bridge of Friendship connects the two countries. Nearest airports to Tui are Vigo (25km), Santiago de Compostella (124km) and Oporto (119km). You can also take a direct train from Madrid to Guillarei (3.7km). 

Walking to the town of Porriño passing through the pretty little villages of A Picoña, Ribadelouro and Orbenlle

Today you will pass through the villages of Mos, Santiaguiño before arriving at Redondela often referred to as the town of the viaducts. You are only 85km from Santiago de Compostela at this stage.

Walking through the villages of Cesantes, Arcade before arrving at the wonderful town of Pontevedra with its´ charming squares, architecture and cafes. 

Walking along country lanes and bridle paths, over streams and through woodland you will pass through the villages of Alba, A Cancela, A Seca, Briallos before arriving at the bustling little town of Caldas de Rey. You will also be walking along the Via Romano XIX. 

Today you will pass through the villages of Carracedo, Casalderrique, Cernadas, O Pino, San Miguel de Valga and Pontecesures before arriving at Padron.

Last stretch today through the villages of Iria Flavi, A Escravitude, A Picrañana, Osebe, and Milladoiro before arrving at the Plaza de Obradoiro in front of Santiago de Compostela cathedral. Don´t forget to get your certificate (Compostelana) from the Pilgrim´s Office.
